This Puma (SA 330B cn 1024) was originally in service with the ALAT, and was subsequently transfered to the Centre d'Essais en Vol (flight tests centre), in 1978. It has been used for various tests, including a navigation system in the early 80's, when this photograph (nice one, btw!) was taken.

Grazie mille Fabrizio! 👍 I thought it was a 'B' model but wanted to be sure. I am wondering which type of navigation system they were testing.

The above photo depicts a student on a Forward Air Controller course consulting a map while calling in the coordinates of a potential target. Joint Forward Air Control Training and Standards Unit (JFACTSU, based at RAF Leeming) host four-week Forward Air Controllers courses to train individuals, who from a forward position on the ground or in the air, direct the action of combat aircraft engaged in close air support of land forces. This involves talking a ground attack aircraft onto a target from a forward position on the battlefield.

I think there is obviously a camera angle component to this shot which contributes to the appearance of proximity, but they are probably fairly close. I know that in order to get any decent photo or video shots of aircraft in formation, they need to be pretty close.

                                    • Hello gents, another day, another find, another Gulf war Gazelle fiesta !!

Looks like we can update our info, that XX437 was "C" (Charlie) during GW. It was NOT !!

While searching for something different (Bae Nimrod) I came across this picture from Yearbook 1991 RAF Special and it clearly shows that it was "G" (Golf) So, I marked my "C" pics with XXunknown ... Here is the new pic and I wish you great weekend !!

                                        • Bosnia-Herzegovina Gazelles

The online Bosnia-Herzegovina aircraft register has been updated, new date 10-May-2021 (previous 28-Aug-2020).

                                          See http://www.bhdca.gov.ba/english/doku...gister_eng.pdf

The following two Gazelles no longer appear on that register:

                                          E7-ABI SA342L1 (139)
                                          E7-SHA SA341H (046)

Anyone having an idea about their fates?

                                        • Hi, so, when using many image editing programs, I can safely say that Gazelle AH.1 with "C" (Charlie) callsign was identified as XX389.

My page will be updated today with this new info and I moved the two b/w pics of "unknown" C to XX389 line.

                                          Thanks !
